Frame It Up

It has only been a week and a half since demo started but it seems like so much has happened!

Framing for the new walls started last week and this week they started on the plumbing and electrical. And… over the weekend I picked out cabinets, some fixtures and faucets, toilets, and appliances! There have been so many decisions so far and it has only just begun…

I have to give major props to my contractor Tom Strott for everything he has done and is doing! I would have never considered a fixer upper if it weren’t for Tom and the incredible work that he does.

A little bit of a backstory – my parents met Tom several years ago when they were looking to do some renovations to a few rooms in their lake house. Since then, he has literally redone or added to every single room in the house (in addition to an awesome screened-in porch) and become a good family friend. He is without a doubt the only person I wanted and trusted to do the work on my house.

He is truly crafting my dream home and making it even better than I could’ve ever imagined. Click here for the link to his company Facebook page to see some of his work.

Since demo is complete and all the walls are down, we can really tell the size of space we are working with. This is the combined space from the living room, office, and dining room. (See original photos here)

For electrical planning purposes, my dad created a template of the kitchen table my parents have to use as a guide for where to put the chandelier.

You can kind of see the markings for the kitchen island and cabinets on the floor! Behind it will be a hallway with the half bath and laundry room.

The Jack and Jill bathroom was finally demo-ed too! We found the original tile under the laminate flooring – my fingers are crossed that the tile is in good condition so that we can use that!

I am from Atlanta, GA and moved back here after graduating from the University of South Carolina. GO COCKS! Moving back was an interesting transition and a lot more difficult than I expected but I am thrilled to be here. I have been at my job for almost four years and it has been a wonderful learning opportunity! My parents are the most caring and fun people who just celebrated 34 years of marriage! Congrats to them! My brother and brother in law just recently moved to Atlanta after getting married this summer.

I'd love your thoughts, feedback, and ideas! Please comment!
