Europe I’m Coming for Ya!

As I’ve mentioned before, my brother works on cruises…lucky him! Today I am flying out to meet up with him and my parents in Florence, Italy to cruise around for a week in the Mediterranean…lucky me!

The last time Cameron (my brother) was home was back in October so it has been far too long since I’ve seen him. His cruises are amazing and truly an unbelievable experience so you can’t blame him but it’s hard to talk to someone on the other side of the world. He’s a singer/dancer in the shows that the cruise has at night so during the day he gets to hang out and chill. Sounds like the perfect job to me… Travel the world, see everything imaginable, do the job you love and get paid to do it.

Currently I am sitting at the airport waiting to board my flight. I’m a little nervous to fly alone but I can’t wait to get there. I will land in Florence on Saturday and my family arrives Sunday morning. Please say a little prayer for me as I start this trip and that there are no rogue waves to knock over our boat (which is my biggest fear while cruising).

My airplane essentials: Vogue, InStyle, bottle of water, Target sweater, and the book Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. What do you never travel without??

The first day will be in Florence where I studied abroad. I am thrilled to show my family where I lived, where I got my groceries, the florist that lived in the bottom of my building and everything I did for a summer. Florence became not just somewhere I lived but a home and it means the world to me that I can now share that with my family.

Luckily both my parents and brother have been before so we can cut out all the super touristy things!

Updates to come throughout the week when I am able to get WiFi. Also follow along on Instagram at southernsweetcity

Ps. I’ve never seen a plane this big before in my life. I will be in that first window on the top!
